They get "mom gifts" on Christmas eve which always consist of new Pj's, slippers and a robe.
Then on Christmas morning they get their "Santa" gifts. -Santa has a limit of 400 dollars per child. Each July-they each get a money envelope with their name on it. I spend from their envelopes till the money is gone. This way, they know that I've spent the same amount on them. Best system ever.
And the cash limit depends on the financial situation at the time as well. There were some years I only spent 100 on each.
