Soon after family board went bye-bye my DH's kidney (from me) failed. We drove to his old hospital to restart dialysis , we held each other and cried during that first dialysis run. We were heartbroken and asked why??, why now when things are going so well?
I stayed with him overnight there and we pushed on through, we decided we were not going to let this take over our life again.
In June we moved back to the Twin Cities metro, glad to be back near family and be near the city I love.
DH is student teaching this year at an inner city school (6th graders, science focus). Dialysis three days a week, works as a tutor two days a week, and occasionally picks up a shift on weekends with me for demos. He graduates this spring, I'm so proud of him!!
He refuses to get UNOS listed until after he graduates, fears he will get a match and need to push graduating off again. His brother has made some inquiries into possibly being a donor.
I'm doing demo/sample events for now. Looking for a teaching job in preschool or childcare, want to start after the holidays.
My boys are now taller than me ! 10 and 13 yrs old
We are going to Disneyland over Christmas break, I can't wait!!
