Yes, that's exactly it. It took me a while to get out of the mindset of wanting to pay off our house. His philisophy is that instead of putting more money into your house you should invest it elsewhere (and you still have access to it). He's pointed us to other investments and our house has appreciated quite nicely, so it's an investment in itself.
