Years and years ago, I lived in a "carriage house " home..which is sorta like a townhouse outside of Jacksonville, Florida. ..anyhow..when we moved in, I lived next door to some very nice, decent , responsible law abiding people..never bothered anyone..they were married and 2 children, around ages 8 & 9...
they were military ( as we were ) , and got orders to Japan so had to move ..they decided to rent their home out with a rental manag. co. The management co found some dreadful people to rent the home..they were a married military couple with one little girl , age 4..a bi-racial couple..which SINCERELY did not matter to me at all..their 4 year old and my son played together all the time, and I welcomed her in my home.
However, the mom was a piece of work, I would wake up on a Sunday MORNING at 8 am and my walls would be shaking with the bass playing next door on her stereo. I very NICELY knocked on her door and VERY NICELY asked if she minded if she turned in down a few. I said something along the lines of, " I don't know if you realize it or not but I can hear the music in my home, can you turn the volume knob down a bit ? Thanks !
" ** insert happy grins**
a few days later, again, with the music..I again walked over and said the music was loud, and she SNAPPED on me !
Snarled that she turned it down once and wasn't going to turn it down again..and if I did not like it I can call the city noise control people to file a complaint , because she wasn't going to turn it down, and further more, the only reason she thinks I am complaining is because she is white ( so am I !) & she is married to a black man ??? HUH?
I said , no, that is NOT the reason why, I came over because the music is very loud, and the people who lived here before , I never heard a peep out of, so I know it can be done"..she then snottingly said well..she is NOT the people who lived here before, and she was NOT going to turn it down, so too bad soo sad..!!
I stood there with my mouth open and didn't know quite what to say...it later went to a full fledge war with our dh's having a fist fight in the front yard a few weeks later..and us calling the police. I didn't have a problem with them before the music, I really did not..her daughter and my son played very nicely together, and in fact, when she was at work her dh would come to my house and practically beg for his dd to come over to play with my ds because she was whining and he did not know how to deal with her...and then I have a problem cause they are black ? Ugh, it was like I said a good maybe 15 years ago this happened and I still get steamed about it..they obviously did not respect boundries and tried to make it that we were being unreasonable. errrrrrrrrr!!!!!
