| Disrespectful or innocent fun?
I have a side not looked at in regards to this....have had this conversation with co-workers (high-school teachers) and wonder what others think. When I was a kid and people TP'd houses or cars, it wasn't something to get in a big huff over and call the cops or anything but it wasn't condoned by the parents either. It is blatently disrespectful of other people's property. It makes a mess that others have to clean up and is a pain in the butt!! Since when did we as adults condone this in our kids? Now, I have never had our house or vehicle TP'd so I am not offering this as a result of that but from what I see in kids as a whole. Many--not all--kids have distorted ideas of respect of what they are allowed to do and what is "okay" today. I think much of this comes from us as parents not setting the bar high enough in what we expect of them and their behavior. I couldn't imaging letting my kids know that it would be okay to TP someone's house because they were irritated let alone that I would do that.
