Thanks for all the Congrats!!
Angel - I had the opposite problem, he does want out of his field (software architect) but doesn't have the faintest idea what he wants to do. I have completely supported him trying other things, even going back to school, but he doesn't have clue what he wants to do.
Other than a professional poker player, that is. Which I even supported that, because he is fairly good, pretty much breaks even or ahead a little. Well a lot ahead now because he won some at the WSOP last summer (Thank goodness, because we have been living off of it these last few months). But unfornately, not good enough to make $ at it consistantly enough for us to live.
vorphalack - Dh has been self-employed/contractor for 13 years and he does work from home from time to time, six month stretch at one point. That didn't bother me because he was busy and kept fairly regular normal hours and we would have lunch, breaks together but then we both would go do our own thing during the day and I could get something done. Now, though he literally watches tv, plays video games, or online poker and that's it. And he gets upset if I'm not there watching with him, I can only watch so much tv or poker before I go insane and I don't enjoy video games at all. And he has no schedule, although usually it's staying up all night and sleeping all day. And he's a light sleeper. We have 2 german shephards and a parrot and I homeschool our 7 yr old dd. Trying to keep this household quite so he can sleep because he stayed up all night playing drives me insane!! Besides the fact that I am not a night owl and that adds to tension, since I'm ready to go to bed a few hours after he wakes up.
threegirlsthenaboy - It is a huge relief! He has been majorly depressed. He doesn't enjoy his field anymore which hasn't helped him motivate him to find work. Plus his field has taken a major hit in the last few years, lots of it going overseas (India, mainly) and he can't get the same $ rates he use to, which depresses him.
Forunately, the contract he got has the potential to last several years, possibly even a job if he wants it.
Prior to this 4 month stint, he was out of work the prior year for 3 months plus 3 months of part time work only. Other than that he has had work for the 13 years he has been self-employed so we have been very forunate until recently.
hueston - we did go out for a steak dinner to celebrate
Thanks again for the all the congrats!
Jenn
PS Is it Feb. 5 yet? LOL
