Dh used to really love his field and still does like some aspects of it, like learning the new technologies. But I think after working 20 years in it with tons of OT he is getting burnt out on it, ready to move on to a "second" career.

Hope your dh gets the senior position. Sometimes, it can be tough to know what the right thing to do is in the computer field. Dh's been there before, having 2 opportunties and having to decide which would be better in the long run. Sometimes holding off on the big bucks can pay off, if he learns a new technology/equipment, he could have an advantage and get better opportunities in the long run.

I understand the envy thing and wanting dh to do one thing and he chooses the other. That happened to us last year when he was out of work, he ended up getting 2 offers at the same time. I thought one was better for long term and stability,I was right on that, seeing as how he was out of work 9 months later when he chose the other. The other had the opportunity to learn new things though and he said that helped him get the gig he's about to start. So who know's what was really the best choice. I try to bite my tongue and not say much unless he asks my opinion.
