I had broken up with my long term boyfriend on Wednesday night, and finally by Saturday night, I was ready to eat something. It was 9:30PM, so I pulled on sweats, washed my face, and ran to the corner grocery store. I was standing in the cereal aisle trying to decide which cereal would provide the MOST sugar buzz- when a guy standing next to me said hi. I said hi back, but very flippantly. He said " Glad I am not the only one eating cereal for dinner on a Saturday night." I chuckled, and continued looking... he would not let up, and started making small talk about cereal, and the town we lived in. I still had not said more than " mmhmm and yeah" and he flat out said " If you are available, how about NEXT Saturday night you eat dinner with me, instead of with Tony the Tiger." I reluctantly agreed, because he scared me.

I gave him my e-mail address, I had never been picked up in a grocery store before. Especially with NO make-up and after I had just spent 3 days crying.

Well, he emailed me on Sunday morning, and apologized for being so forward, but that he would really like to take me for dinner. We emailed for a week, and went to a movie and dinner on Saturday night. When I got home from our date, I called my friend, Karyn and said " Do you have a pen and paper?" she said
" Yes, why?" I said.." Write this down. I am going to marry him." She told me I was crazy, it was a date. I insisted..I said " Write it down, and put the date." - 8/6/98. She said " Ok! fine! I wrote it down."

We were married in June of 2000. In the card that Karyn gave us for our wedding was a Hello Kitty sticky note.. it said " Cici is going to marry Joey" it was dated Aug. 6, 1998. We have that sticky note framed with a copy of our wedding invitation.

It's been almost 7 years, and 2 beautiful babies since.
