However, I've known plenty of people who are older with grown children and are still lonely because their children don't visit or appreciate them. Since she is 90, who knows...she could have outlived a child and still be in a lonely place. I'm sure most people who lose a spouse would feel lonely regardless of their family situation.

I agree.

It just always seems like she is so alone. She was an only child and now there are just a few neices and nephews. Only one still lives in the same city that she does. They try to include her for holidays,when they are home for them.

But then we are just one of those big families that do visit and call .
