I never got my kids anything. They took Valentines to school. When I was a kid, we would draw big hearts and tape coins to it. We gave them to our teacher (a nun) and she would send the money to a mission. Some parents go over board on things. The last couple of years some parents sent their kids their kids in limos to the 8th grade graduation dance.
