My 16yr old DD (11th grade) is a good student--3.25 gpa. BUT she has to work super super hard to maintain that gpa. My 14 yr old 8th grader is a 4.0 and always has been (lowest grade he ever got on a report card was a B+ and he cried when he saw that), and he doesn't at all have to work too hard to get that. Maybe H.S. will tax him more. But, we don't compare the two because my DD is very artistic and that is where her bent is and where she will most likely concentrate after H.S. DS is very hard on himself---we do not push either about their grades but he does so to himself. Luckily for our kids, the ONLY teacher they have ever had in common so far has been in Kindergarten. Also, they are 3 years apart, so they have not even been in the same school for the last 5 (this year will be the 6th) years and will only be in the same HS for one year (his Freshman year and her Seniro). Think that makes it easier on both of them.
