My doctor gave me antibiotics, Tamiflu, and a decongestant. I feel better except for the fact that I am still very weak. I'm betting you have something else going on besides the Flu.
Flu is a viral agent/illness and antibiotics are not commonly used to treat virals. So, I would bet that the Dr. suspected that you might have or develop some sort of infection.
The Flu can last 7-10 days, but the your body may take longer to "bounce" back, depending on what strain of flu you had, if you did have any sort of secondary infections.
3 years ago, right after we moved. Both kids and DH came down w/ the flu. We didn't even get our boxes unpacked before they were all sick as dogs. And oldest kid also had double ear infections and strep throat ON TOP of the flu.
He was one sick little kidlet for a while.
Amazingly, I managed to escape the whole thing and didn't even get a cold.
