Oh my gosh, I'm having my father and husband install my new T-post today for a clothesline! I've always wanted one and my parents tracked down a post for my birthday. They actually had to order it since none of the hardware/home stores carried them!
I live at the end of a cul-de-sac with 8 acres behind me, so I don't think it'll upset anyone. I loved my mother's clothesline. I remember hiding behind the sheets when she hung them out. I love the smell of clothes hung out to dry, and of course saving energy is a plus for me too.
If I had neighbors behind me, I probably wouldn't install a line because I have to agree that I wouldn't want to look at someone's clothes hanging outside. At our old house, the neighbor next door had a line and would hang rags out - and forget that they were hanging out there. They'd be there in the rain - it wasn't a pretty sight, but I would never complain to them about it.
The clothesline just has too many good childhood memories for me!
