Do you live in a state where you can pay for the ticket and go to traffic school? Here in California, if you pay the ticket, and go to traffic school you will not have the ticket "on your record" and it will not be reportable to your insurance company. You can only do this once every 18 months or 24 months, depending on the county. Check that out and see if it will help. You can still go to court and tell you side to the judge...even if you lost-then you pay the ticket and do the traffic school bit. Usually I have heard that if you go to court, the judge at least almost always will reduce the fine. I have had one ticket in my life--but you would nev er know it because of traffic school!
(It was a bogus ticket anyway in my opinion!)
