I saw this posted on the bottom of someone's page for Cape Coral:
The beautiful region on the western edge of Cape Coral is covered in miles of protected mangrove forests and pine forests, some of which have been incorporated into the Charlotte Harbor State Park. The mangroves are crossed in many miles of walking trails, which are blissfully peaceful places to walk whilst on a Cape Coral holiday. There is some beautiful wildlife to be seen too. When you arrive home from a Cape Coral villa, you will most likely have seen dolphins, the endangered burrowing owl, many species of bird, including the bald eagle and manatees, wallowing in the shallow waters of the mangrove forests.
It also suggested going out with a guide to explore Cape Coral.
If I am not mistaken you are not too far away from Fort Myers from Cape Coral. They might enjoy a tour of Thomas Edison's home. We drive by it every year, and every year we are too eager to get to Sanibel to stop.
