We have an inadequate bus system and no light rail where we live. My husband and I try to carpool when we can, but our schedules aren't always the same. Often, he has to get to work at 7am and doesn't leave until 9 or 10pm. But, that isn't something we started to do recently.

Our home is heated by natural gas and we have only seen a mild increase this year. We have always kept the temperature low and bundled up. (Makes it more fun under the covers, too.)

I am much more hopeful with raising prices that we will be able to invent alternate energy sources as opposed to trying to put our noses into oil rich parts of the world and just keep sucking the wells until they are dry. Where I live, there is no light rail and the bus service is pathetic. Every time I can, I vote for mass transite, yet they just keep building more roads .... Eventually, it will become uncomfortable enough and other voters will start voting for a light rail system. Either that, or people who live farther from their places of work will move closer to the city, which will be fine with me because it will increase the value of my home.
