If you live in the city limits you have to pay to ride the bus. Don't know the exact price but it's close to a few hundred a year. They also don't drop the kids off at their house there are "bus stops" around town. So some kids still end up walking several blocks.


My kids are in 1st and 4th grade. When it's nice out they walk home pretty much everyday and sometimes walk to school. When it's cold, rainy or way to hot I'll pick them up. We're only about 6 blocks or so from the school so it's not to bad. They're usually walking with a big group of kids for over half the way.
