My husband used to wear girls jeans in the high school, as well.
He did it because he rode BMX bikes professionaly, and while his waist and butt were incredibly skinny, his thighs were not.
Girls jeans were all he could find that he could wear (that were tight of course!).
Maybe it was BMX'ers that started this fad and we don't even know it!
That is so sad about the cutting. And scary. I can't even imagine. My next door neighbor (upstanding, uppity, wealthy, do no wrong) have a daughter that turned emo in 8th grade. She started cutting herself last year and they put her in the mental hospital.
Now, other people were *gasp* shocked, and they were embarassed. I wasn't and never said a word. I will be the last person that will ever judge someone for their child having to go to a facility, HOWEVER.. I had NO CLUE that cutting went along with being emo!!! I am wondering if they know this as well.
If it is, I am sure that would make them feel much better, rather than thinking that she really has some emotional problems deep rooted that they might not be able to help.
Why is it, that a fad, can turn into something so dangerous? Crazy.
