The questions we have asked depend on the sort of session that we are attending i.e. admissions, campus tour, interview, etc. The one thing that drives me nuts that other parents ask is very specific questions about their child and his/her situation in a group setting. Drags the whole thing down a rat hole. Grrr....
Anyways, most of our questions deal with the academics.....we pick up the lifestyle and "fit" stuff from the tours and observing the students going about their daily business....are they smiling?
Admission criteria - what are they looking for? Deadlines and such
Curriculum requirements - language, core coursework, ability to take electives
AP credit
Class size, out of class help, who is teaching the classes (profs or TAs)
How easy/hard is it to switch majors?
Retention rate for freshman
How many graduate in 4 years? 5 years?
Research projects going on and ability for undergrads to participate
Co-op and/or intern program availability
Job placement rates for graduating seniors
Tuition, fees, (rate of increase also), availability of scholarships and how to apply
