We have one joint checking account and one joint savings account.
Our retirement account is also joint.

When we were both working, his paycheck went directly to the checking account and I would pay all of the bills from there and transfer some into savings.
I would cash my (considerably smaller) paycheck and would use it for groceries and spending money.

Now both of our SS checks go directly into the checking account and with his small paycheck (part time work) and 2 small pensions, we try to pay all the bills and hope to have a bit left over for spending.
