I bought a Kenmore Washer and Dryer about 10 years ago. I still have the washer and in all these years, it has cost me $200 in repairs (water pump leaking). I still love it today. The dryer was replaced after I burned the motor out by pushing it in towards the wall which in turn kinked the vent to the outside. The lint was gathering in the machine and I'm lucky I didn't catch the house on fire. I replaced it with another Kenmore and bought the extended warranty. It never had a problem during the 3 year warranty, but a year after the warranty expired, it started acting up. They wanted $160 just to come look at it, then the repair would be extra. I ended up buying a new dryer from Costco and wouldn't you know that a week later, I got an extended warranty offer on the Kenmore for $300 which would have covered the repair. Go Figure. I was/am still mad that I let go of that Kenmore Dryer cause I really loved it. The Costco one is really good too (Whirlpool) - I've had no problems with it thus far (almost a year).
I stick to Kenmore when I can, but I suspect, they are just a whirlpool (or another brand) re-packaged. I bought a Kenmore dishwasher when I remodeled because it had a good rating by Consumer Reports.
