It pretty much sucked here today as well. Our neighbor's 14 yr. old son, Josh, passed away on Wed.-totally unexpected. I pretty much got to witness it all-was at their house before the ambulance. It's been a really rough few days. Just when I think I don't have any more tears, the floodgates seem to open again. My son
and his older brother are pretty tight, and the younger boys played w/ Josh-he was so patient in letting them play video games w/him. So the viewing was today. We waited in line for three hours to meet w/ the family. The line was all the way out into the parking lot-how awesome is that? Very emotional! But before that, not a great day either. I got up around 7am, made the first cup of coffee, read the paper, and made a bagel. I got the little guys breakfast, did some laundry, made my own breakfast. DH was sleeping upstairs w/ the dog. DS had prom last night-made sure he was well-outfitted, w/ enough cash to enjoy dinner at a place that I can't afford (his date had lobster) , of course w/ a limo, etc. So by noon, no one had offered me a "Happy Mother's Day" or even a "Kiss my ass." So I left the house and went and got my nails and toes done. Came back and eventually DH handed me a pc. of construction paper that said, "Today, the world revolves around you." And it was signed by the kids. And I thought-what, today the world revolves around me doing what---laundry, dishes, scrubbing toilets-would the world like to watch???? My 9 yr old made me a card in school, and that made me cry. None of the other kids have wished me a happy mother's day, which makes me so furious w/ DH. The thing is, my best friend and I wanted to go to Florida for Mother's day, then we felt guilty. Guess what, after the totally underwhelming response that was received today, I am thinking about a girls' weekend out for Father's day.
