Long Island here....my last delivery I still had last year's cap and I received it for $2.59 (about 3 months ago). I renegotiated my contract this year and was able to get a cap of $3.29. They delivered oil yesterday. I had a problem with my burner, the repairman came out (under the contract) and said that without a cap Petro was delivering oil at $4.70!

So my advice if you must use oil, do some hard negotiating. When I called them a few months ago, they wouldn't give me a good price so I said I will just go and call other companies.(I had been a customer for 11 years.) Within 2 hours they called back and offered me $3.49. I kept at them, saying is that the best you can do? Then they finally said $3.29. My sister didn't bargain as hard and got a higher rate with the same company the same week.
