| Extra Sharp Macaroni and Cheese
This is my Aunt (from Syacuse NY)'s recipe ...its really great, so I thought I would post it...I usually double or more it, and eat it as a main dish during lent
Sharp Macaroni and Cheese
350 oven
Cook and drain 8 oz macaroni, place in buttered casserole dish
mix in a saucepan over low heat
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt (I omit his, I think the cheese has enough saltiness)
add 3 cups milk,
8 ounces (two cups) shredded extra sharp cheese (you can make it with any cheese, or even cheese ends, but for the sharp taste unique to this dish, use the sharpest cheese you can get)
stir until cheese is melted,
pour over macaroni...you can top with buttered bread crumbs or crushed chips (I usually leave the top plain) and bake for 20-25 minutes
let it set a few minutes before you serve
