Other countries have an official language...or a native language... We have, as you called it, a "predominant" language. What other country argues for the right to require others to learn the "predominant" language?
If you travel to any other European country, you'll see that signs everywhere are written in AT LEAST 2 languages. So, IMO, we have to get over being impatient with "press one for English, press 2 for Spanish..."
I think it's time for our country to evolve. Every other country requires more of their children. Why don't we want more for our own?
