The policy at work is that if you don't know or can't find the owner, everything found is turned over to security to be logged into lost and found.
After 30 days if the item has not been claimed the finder can claim it. Everything unclaimed is sold at a sale held twice a year in the lunch room and all the proceeds go to our Sunshine fund.
When I was working as a cashier I had a man leave $500 on the counter and after looking through the entire casino I found him playing at a machine. When I returned the money there was no thank you just the attitude that I was "bothering" him. But as gramma used to say "Some folks weren't raised right".
And a little OT here but the things that are turned into lost and found are amazing. You have not lived until you have found dentures. |
Omg, that is so funny. My parents stayed at a hotel for a couple of days. Upon leaving they did the "under the bed check" where a pair of dentures were found. It was a nicer hotel. They got a free stay....
