I think that when the word "boy" was used in the past, it was a way of putting black men in their place. They were not "men", they were boys in the way that as a boy (meaning child) the black person couldn't be on the same level as the white person calling them that. did that make sense?

The word boy may be just a word to some people but to a Black man, it is one of the most demeaning words to call him. He is more than a boy, he is a man except when he is being kept in his place as a boy.
