Yes, she referred to her son in the marines. She said something about him strapping on his weapons and getting on a bus to go to Iraq. That didn't happen. He might have gotten on a bus, but he didn't get on that bus with weapons on . They don't do that for obvious reasons. I am not sure if her son who is a Marine officer is through with TBS or OIC yet. I think he graduated this past spring so he won't be deploying anywhere for at least another year. If he graduated last Spring, he may be getting ready to deploy now.,

They more than likely were with him and were able to say good bye as he left for deployment but from first hand experience, no one had their weapon strapped to them unless it was one that he had illegally.

I am not denigrating their son's service or anything like that as my son is a marine as well, I am just questioning why she would say such a thing if it weren't true.

The other boy attended the Naval Academy and is a nice kid. Both my kids have met the McCains a few years ago when he came to a wrestling match at the Academy and I think his son was doing an academy visit.
