Maybe this will help explain the point I had previously tried to make. I spoke to a friend of mine today, Jose, who was born in El Salvador, immigrated to Mexico with his family because of the war and now lives in the US (his family is still in Mexico). I have known him for about 10 years now. He told me that his mother is confused. She thought the United States was for womens rights, etc... She wanted to know from Jose why everyone was applauding what Hillary has done but all she hears is negative things about Sarah Palin!!! Negative as to she should stay home, etc... NOT about her policies. She can't understand why Hillary would be supported by women for making progress but not Sarah Palin. THAT was my point before. It has nothing to do with who you are voting for or what their policies are but the fact that a woman is now in line to possibly be the VP. I just thought this was very interesting coming from someone who lives in the Yucatan and can see the hypocrisy of the womens rights folks in the US that aren't applauding the position she has attained.
