So that shouldn't be the issue) that believes in an end to racism (gasp) and in black people helping black people. They're big on community outreach and are Christian, like so many other churches.
Sure, Rev. Wright is a subscriber to Black Liberation Theology, starting in the 60's. He was a religious leader in the Black community during a time of upheaval and struggle, so I don't have any problem with him combining his religion and his anger at the unfair treatment of his race. This is not ancient history, either...Little Rock was only 50 years ago, the Klan is still alive and well in the South, neo-Nazis are still flourishing, there is still a huge population in this country who won't vote for Obama because of his skin color...racism is alive and well in America and if you think it's not, you're either white or just kidding yourself.
I find it really sad that this is an attack strategy being used by the Republican wackjobs (because I truly dont believe it stems from McCain)...they're using white America's fear of black men to twist and distort the facts to suit their own ends. For those calling Trinity 'whacko' and 'dangerous'...have you been to a service there? What exactly have they done that's dangerous? Not what one man might have said, but what actual acts have they committed?
Have you sworn off the Oprah show? She was a regular at the church in the late 80's, early 90's...does her 'dangerous' affiliation scare you too? If anyone's in a position to take over the world, it's Oprah. Ooh, and she's all into helping women in Africa too...which totally proves that she's not a true American. Heaven help her if she ever tries to run for office in this country.
Just pathetic, that these are the depths that some nutjobs will sink to.

Here is a link to one of MANY things about the church. I find it interesting that people can say how whacky McCain and Palin are for praying to God about the war and praying for His will in that area, yet, some of those same people have no problem with Rev. Wright asking people to say "God Damn America" for our roles in many things. That makes no sense to me. BTW, this is to the general you, not particularly you, MoMo.
Here is a link to their "all new" web site.
Trinity - BLACK VALUE SYSTEM
Now, just a minute, please insert the word WHITE everywhere you see the word BLACK, and ask yourself if you would feel the same way about their "idealology"?? If McCain belonged to a church that espoused helping WHITE people only, you would be OK with that??? I wouldn't.
I understand the attrocities suffered by black people. We should never forget those things, but, how can we, as a Nation, move forward if it keeps being thrown out there......??? I think it just inflames the situation.
And, to the poster who asked about Oprah. YES, I have stopped watching and supporting her. Not because of the church she went to , but, due to some comments she made about "white folk" now working for HER, and the way in which she made these comments.
