On the flip side, take
out the word Black and see how you feel about those same ideas. I think you'd agree with all of them. As far as something similar saying 'White'...well, it doesn't need to...in most cases it's understood. It's like when people are offended by the idea of a TV channel for Black people....when all the other channels are 95% white. Or Black beauty pageants when the only way a Black woman can win Miss America is if she looks like a white woman with a dark tan. It's so easy not to be offended when you're a member of the majority. Not to feel disenfranchised, not to feel scorned, neglected, ignored or prejudged. I say walk a lifetime in their shoes and see if a church centered on your race wouldn't feel like the closest thing you'd find to God. I dare say that the vast majority of White McCain backers belong to almost exclusively White churches, and focus on the White families that they know, and focus on the education of their White children, etc.
And y'know, their ideology being all about their race doesn't threaten you just because you're of another race. They're not saying "Commitment to the Black Community and Destruction of the White Community", and I think that the bit about forswearing anti-intellectualism is brilliant, particularly considering the last 8 years...and take one look at the inner city schools in D.C., Baltimore, Chicago, etc to see how much more of a challenge that is for Black kids than White ones.
I say there's absolutely nothing to be threatened by there...no violence, no hatred, just people helping themselves and isn't that what the Republicans want???
