I hope that our next President, whoever wins, feels that same way. As far as poor is poor, absolutely, but according to this site ( Table 8. Free and reduced-price eligibility and racial/ethnic composition as a percentage of school district membership, and percentage of schools for which characteristic is reported, in the 100 largest school districts in the United States and juri ) the abysmal Baltimore school district is 88% Black and D.C.'s is 84%. Those are the two worst school districts that I know of and living proof that 'separate but equal' is still, in many children's lives, a theory not a practice.
So, let me make sure I have this correct. Are you saying they are poor BECAUSE they are black? I want to make sure I am clear on exactly what you are trying to say here before I comment.

In a perfect world, race would no longer be an issue, but last time I checked things were far from perfect. And I think it also helps to realize that as far as discrimination we're not talking about the distant past...for some people, we're talking about this morning.

I'm not saying I don't want to hear about them. We must hear about the past to not have a repeat in the future. I also believe that people in general need to not carry around their baggage for all of eternity. Take Pearl Harbor for instance. Have you been??? Seen the video??? Been to the memorial?? It's awful and needs to be spoken of. We have learned from it and moved forward. I don't doubt that people are descriminated against, black, white, red, all of them..... I just don't see how awarding special privelages to people will help the situation??
