I'm sure pretty much everyone here has watched "Rainman" with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. Even though it was about an autistic man, how can you not chuckle at that movie? I don't think hambirg was making fun of the child mentioned. I'm sure the parents know exactly what she's talking about. Obviously the child uses the phrase all the time. I think she was just pointing out how one person on this board constantly uses the phrase 'you're funny' when they have nothing to say and says she has a student who says the same phrase.

BTW, I have a friend who has an autistic child and we were at an outdoor wedding last fall, and I asked her where 'Johnny' was. She replied, 'oh, he's over there playing with a rock -- something he does all the time.' And then she laughed. I don't think a lot of parents with challenged children are overly sensitive like a lot of you are on this board.
