I don't believe that statement means that ALL republican are conservative nor that ALL Democrats are liberal. There is a wide spectrum in both parties, just as there are representatives of each party that don't seem to represent the whole spectrum of their party. McCain was considered too liberal for republicans not that long ago. Lieberman is considered too conservative for Democrats. And, just as there are different ends of the spectrum in leadership, so are there different members of each party. Personally I have declined to state a party from the first election I voted in at 18. So, that puts me in .... where exactly?.....
