Sorry, but I don't want to play the game that way, where words like 'ignorant' are tossed around flippantly about people who have obviously worked hard to get where they are and who have the courage to stand for their convictions. I would say the same about Biden.

While that particular mispronunciation makes me cringe, I know that where I grew up, that *is* how it was pronounced. Probably still is. It's obviously a tricky word because it is so often mis-pronounced, and I do believe there is a geographical tendancy to pronounce it one way or the other. Palin speaks differently than someone from the lower 48. Her accent is pronounced, her inflections atypical of an east coast elitist... and yet every bit as American.
