I find that odd as well....However, generally local Wal-Mart's are alotted a certain amt. of money for charitable donations. Maybe your local Wal-Mart has already committed their charitable dollars.
Wal-Mart/The Walton Foundation are extremely generous when it comes to education. I can't imagine too many legitimate reasons why a local level Wal-Mart would not be supportive of a local school.
