Have you considered buying a digital recorder to see if you could pick up something?
After watching Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State and other shows like that, I've considered doing that with our house. The recorder could pick up EVPs that can't be heard with "human ears".
If you do, maybe ask him what it is he's looking for and how you can help him. If anything, he might give you a name so you can go look in the public records to see if you can find more information.
