The actual vision center--the retail part is part and parcel of Wal-Mart. HOWEVER, the eye doctor is independent. He/She leases rents the space from Wal-Mart. And is not an employee of Wal-Mart.

When asking about insurance coverage--you have to be very specific about asking if WAL-MART accepts insurance for glasses (lenses/frames) and/or contacts. The eye doctor may very well, but Wal-Mart generally does not. The reason we were given is that their prices are already low--hence why we took ourselves to Costco who did accept our vision insurance for purchase of glasses and/or contacts.
