I work in a business office of a small school district in New York State. My husband works for the Dept of Environmental Conservation. Because of our positions we are hearing some pretty bad news. New York State is in terrible shape,
Our superintendent sent an e-mail to all staff cutting field trips and staff development. He wants all staff to think outside the box and think of ways to save money. My boss (business manager) says we will have cuts. That means more teachers on the streets.
My husband has been told by the governor that layoffs are going to happen. All departments need to cut back. My husband doesn't know where else to cut.
Both our positions should be safe for at least a year but who knows after that.
