The reason these crimes keep happening is because nothing is done about them! I had this happen a little over a year ago and lost a lot. My wallet with credit cards, license, ss card (I had just used it to fill out paperwork at my new job and forgot to take it out right away), and less than a dollar in change (no cash, thank goodness). My cell phone and GPS were in there, too. The criminals must have been watching because I was away from my car less than 15 minutes. I got everything cancelled right away so the only thing they got was my cell phone and GPS which wouldn't work unless they bought a new charger cable for it since it was almost dead at the time. The phone was listed stolen and supposedly couldn't be used again. The really rotten thing is, the punks tried to use my credit card several times and the clerks at the stores were told to retain the card because it was stolen when they swiped it for authorization and they GAVE IT BACK and DIDN"T CALL POLICE! The guys were caught on security camera trying to use it but they were never caught. I was basically told by the officer that they weren't even wasting time on it because they had bigger fish to fry! My insurance company was really wonderful too

They basically divided up everything that was stolen between homeowners and auto so that everything fell under our deductables ($500 each) I'm still not sure why a GPS would fall under homeowners since you can't use it at home but if it fell under auto, they would have to pay! It's been over a year and it still ticks me off. Those of you who leave your purses in the car for even a few moments are dodging a bullet every time you come out and find it still there. Trust me, I thought it would never happen to me, now I know better and never leave anything in the car that is valuable!
