Is my job secure? Nope, no way. Like a couple other pp, I work in special ed. As long as families continue to move out of my district and the budget continues to be cut, there's no security. I've got the least seniority where I'm at (4 years). I've got sub-certification, but most subs I know are fully-credentialled, and most are seeking FT positions and have been unable to do so (they cheer when someone announces a pregnancy, because atleast that's a long-term assignment to look forward to).

My husband is an engineer. His job has never been secure - he's been laid off twice (one of those times, the company closed it's doors) since 2001. No raises in 10 years for him either - only pay cuts. Lovely.
