It is correct the WMD were the reason for going in. It wasn't based on just US intelligence, but also UK intelligence.

Though no WMD were found, they did discover that they were poised to resume production of WMD if the Iraq sanctions were lifted and Saddam was still in power. They had received recordings of Saddams son-in-law stating they hiding information pertaining to the WMD. They were not cooperative and acted as if they had something to hide. It sure looked like guilt. Should we have waited until we or someone else got hit with a WMD to go after them? I think not. I would rather be proactive in a situation like that, then to sit on our collective butts and take a chance.

We also have to remember that at least one good thing has come of going in that will protect innocent people for years to come... the removal of Saddam.

The super strict sanctions backfired in sense considering they were mainly imposed to suppress the Iraq military and weapons development. It did that in a sense, but also ended up effecting the county in other negative ways, that Saddam intensified because he was such an evil person. The sanctions were not supposed to withhold food and medical supplies and other necessities. If the Iraq government had played nice, they wouldn't have been sanctioned to begin with.

I do agree we need to wrap up this war, but I also feel we can't pull out and leave the innocent people of Iraq out to dry. We did that before and they grew to hate us for it. We need to find a way to start removing ourselves for the region, yet still help them recover from years of suffering. I know people think that the population over there hates us for being there, but I hear time and time again from military that have done tours there that the average everyday person there thanks them time and time again. So it must have a positive impact on those Iraqis that did not become refugees, in their daily life, in some way

The Bin Laden issue is its own issue. Do we have people actively looking for him? Yes. It is not like we haven't tried to find him. About the only way to tie the two issues together is because Iraq was supposed to be helping Al-Qaeda and possible hiding some of them out.
