They are trying to fix the DC school system. It is not the president's job to fix the DC schools. The mayor and the superindent of schools are the ones that should straighten them up. But like many aging school systems, the buildings have not been kept up. The teachers also need to be checked. I know for a fact that they are closing some of the schools that are not doing well. As president, he can only help education for the whole country not an individual area. I live in Maryland. My kids went to private school for elementary in Maryland but went to a private high school in DC. Although I did not pay the amount that it costs for Sidwell Friends it was a good amount of money. My oldest got a complete scholarship for college so it paid for its self. My kids got a great education. I live in Montgomery county which has a good educational system.
