Having watched my grandmother wring the necks of chickens, pluck them, and then singe whatever feathers remain off of the chicken--I'm pretty sure, watching a turkey get it's head chopped off isn't gruesome at all.
Oh, and having actually called wild turkeys, and then shot the big ole Tom as he came looking for the pretty little hen--nope, cutting their heads off are much more compassionate!
