I think the mother did it and her parents know it. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they were just in denial but not anymore. The grandmother has lied repeatedly and she's almost as weird as her daughter. I've read and seen her interviews and it's obvious that she's making excuses. Like her daughter, she changes her story every times she opens her mouth. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
