If you cook with certain spices it is inevitable that it permeates your clothing - even clothing that is clean and in the closet. Maybe to him, you stink of garlic, or whatever spices you like best.

If he's your coworker, you have no business telling him what to do. That's your boss' job if s/he thinks it is affecting the office.
