I don't understand how someone who worked 45 years, as you mentioned, doesn't have the money to take care of themselves. If she didn't save, that is her situation, not the taxpayer's.

Your statement above is exactly what a lot of us are talking about, a sense of entitlement - you use the phrase "paid her dues" and "but such is life".

Paying your dues doesn't mean the government now takes care of all your wants.......
