I do understand your concern, but I know kids in bigger cities take cabs alone quite frequently. I think she would be fine, but it would get expensive. Too bad she can't just hitch a ride with co-workers. I let my 13 year old ride the bus with a friend home from the mall for the first time last month. . .and they were fine! I know I had taken the bus a few times with friends at that age. I worried a bit, but I agree that it's a letting them grow up thing. BUT get this, my 13 year old is flying to Germany by herself next month. Ugh! The ex-inlaws live in Munich and they did get her a direct flight, but still. I will be worried, but I'm sure she will be fine. I have to find out about having her escorted to her gate. . etc. That's the part she is concerned about. She keeps asking if I can go to the gate with her, but I told her they don't let you do that anymore. I'm sure the airline has something set up for minors flying alone to ensure they make it on the plane. My baby is growing up. . .whaaaaaaa!
