There is no "Trust Fund" or "Lock Box" when it comes to the money being paid into the treasury through that line item on our taxes that is attributable to social security and medicare.

That money is going to finance current government operations... and I assume that various social programs in which those who are not working receive funding are part of the government operations that benefit from social-security-associated withholdings.
