Food takes a huge bite out of your budget and I swear Disney puts something in the air. I'm always hungry when I'm up there.
You're probably going to want to take a break in the afternoon if you get to the parks as soon as they open. Try bringing cereal or something easy like pop tarts with you and have it before you leave your hotel room. By the time you're hungry again (noonish) have a meal at one of the fast food places. Even the fast food at Disney will run you at least $10 per adult. You can also wait until you get back to the hotel. I've found the food there is slightly more reasonable.
Supper for me is usually the big meal of the day. When we go up to the parks we eat as soon as we get there. Then we walk off the meal, maybe having one treat during the night. Adults can do a meal any where from $10 for fast food to $30 for a buffet. Some of the more up scale places run even higher than that.
Bring something to put water in from home. I have a wide mouthed bottle that holds probably close to a liter of water. I fill it with ice first and then add the water and it lasts for hours. The water at Disney is $2.50 a bottle.

You really need to drink a lot!! Not just when you feel thirsty either. You need to get fluids in to you all day long.
The only real way to save money on food at Disney is to eat off property.
